Method of Electrostatics

The electrostatic technology is an advanced solution for the application of products in pest control, disinfection, and fumigation. This method, based on the generation of high-voltage electric charges, allows the droplets of liquids to be transformed into fine, charged particles, significantly improving adherence and distribution on treated surfaces.

How does the electrostatic method work?

When using the electrostatic system, the liquid to be applied is atomized through a specially designed device (nozzle). During atomization, each droplet acquires a uniform electric charge thanks to the action of a high-voltage generator. This process is carried out through one of three charging modes:

  • Contact charging: the droplet is charged upon direct contact with the electrode.

  • Crown charging: the nearby air is ionized around the nozzle, allowing droplets to capture ions.

  • Inductive charging: an electric field is generated through a configuration of electrodes that induces the charge in the droplets without direct contact.

At Fucesa, the inductive mode is mainly used, as it offers a simple structure, lower voltage requirements (around 10 kV), and optimized costs. Once charged, the droplets repel each other and are directed toward the target thanks to the attraction exerted by the opposing charge present on the surface to be treated. This phenomenon not only increases the uniformity of the application but also allows reaching difficult-to-cover areas using conventional methods.

Advantages of electrostatic application

  • Uniform coverage: By charging the droplets, a more homogeneous dispersion over the surface is achieved, ensuring complete coverage, even in hidden or hard-to-reach areas.

  • Greater adherence: The charged droplets are attracted to the surface of the crop, increasing the deposition rate and reducing rebound or drift of the liquid.

  • Reduction in product consumption: Thanks to a more efficient and targeted application, the use of pesticides and other products is optimized, resulting in savings in raw materials and less environmental impact.

  • Improvement in operational efficiency: Electrostatic technology adapts to both ground systems and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), allowing for precise and low-cost application across different operational scales.

  • Environmental protection: By minimizing drift and improving application precision, environmental contamination is reduced and responsible use of chemicals is encouraged.

Applications of the method

The electrostatic method is particularly suitable for crop protection and integrated pest management in orchards and agricultural fields. Its ability to achieve complete and uniform adhesion of droplets makes it the ideal option for:

  • Pest control: Optimizes the deposition of insecticides and fungicides, maximizing their effectiveness.

  • Disinfection: Ensures total coverage in critical areas, such as waiting rooms, hospitals, or industrial facilities.

  • Fumigation: Allows for the treatment of large surfaces with lower product consumption, ensuring a homogeneous application.

Scientific backing and proven results

Recent studies have shown that electrostatic application can increase deposit density by up to 162% compared to traditional methods, resulting in greater yield and effectiveness in pest control. The technology has been validated in both laboratory and field trials, demonstrating its ability to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.

At Fucesa, we have state-of-the-art equipment and a specialized technical team to implement solutions based on the electrostatic method, ensuring optimal results in pest control, disinfection, and fumigation.
